FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 5, 2024 — Fresno, CA — PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, reigning champions in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s LMP2 category, is proud to announce its 2025 driver lineup for the No. 52 ORECA LMP2 07. With a roster of exceptional talent and a refreshed livery, the team is poised to defend its title and compete at the highest level in the upcoming season.
Joining PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports for the full 2025 season is Mexican-American bronze-rated driver, Rodrigo Sales. After years of success in Europe and Asia, including a championship in the 2022 Asian Le Mans Series and multiple podiums in the European Le Mans Series, Sales is eager to return to the IMSA paddock. “After five years of racing in Europe and Asia, I’m looking forward to my return to the IMSA paddock. Bobby and I have known each other for several years and I’m excited about the opportunity to drive with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports. The current level of competition in LMP2 is extremely high, but I believe we have a strong package that will be capable of fighting at the front.”
Joining Sales for the full season is Swiss gold-rated driver, Mathias Beche. Known for his extensive experience and consistent success in endurance racing, Beche has achieved multiple victories and podiums in European competitions, including standout performances in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. “It’s a great pleasure to be joining PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports for the 2025 IMSA campaign. The team has a huge experience of the series and it will be very interesting to learn from them.” Beche said. “The level next season will probably be the strongest it has ever been in the P2 field which is super motivating! With Rodrigo, we proved to be one of the most competitive PRO-AM duo in Europe and I am sure we will be very strong contenders, but we approach this challenge with a lot of humility.”
For the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup events, Sales and Beche will be joined by Danish-American driver Benjamin Pedersen. The silver-rated competitor with a background in the NTT IndyCar Series has quickly established himself as a rising star, earning the title of Fastest Rookie at the 2023 Indianapolis 500. “I’m ecstatic to be joining PR1/ Mathiasen Motorsports for the 2025 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup and to join their winning pedigree. Our driver lineup is looking very strong and I’m excited to get going with everyone on the team,” Pedersen shared.
Returning bronze-rated sensation Ben Keating will complete the lineup for the Rolex 24 at Daytona. A five-time participant at Daytona with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports, Keating brings a wealth of experience and championship-winning credentials, including the 2023 FIA WEC GTE Am title. “This team is like family,” said Keating. “We all feel like there is unfinished business, and I’m eager to push for a top result. Bobby, Lisa, Ray, Leslie, and the whole team are so much fun to race with. And when you’ve won the IMSA Championship as many times as they have, there’s no doubt about their abilities. I can’t wait to get started!”
Team Principal Bobby Oergel and Co-Owner Ray Mathiasen expressed their enthusiasm for the upcoming season. “This lineup represents the perfect combination of experience, speed, and teamwork,” Oergel stated. “We’re ready to defend our championship and aim for new heights in 2025.” Mathiasen added, “With this group of talented drivers and our dedicated team, we’re set for another competitive season. The LMP2 class will be fierce, but we’re up for the challenge.”
